Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and Bridges

When a tooth is badly damaged, cracked, or weakened by fillings that have been replaced multiple times, a crown (sometimes called a “cap”) is often indicated. Crowns can be used to change both shape and color of teeth.

We provide several choices of crown material and design: all-ceramic crowns for front teeth, metal-ceramic crowns for front or back teeth, or gold crowns for back teeth.

Bridges can be used to replace missing teeth. A bridge consists of crowns for the teeth on either side of the space where the tooth is missing, connected together with a fake tooth (called a “pontic”) in the middle to replace the missing one. Bridges are primarily indicated when the teeth on either side of the space have already been damaged or are in need of repair, when there is not enough bone in the space to place a dental implant, or when  one or two teeth are missing.
